Early global support from Reelsoul, Marques Wyatt, Anane Vega, Groove Assassin, Hec Romero, Micky More, Oscar Poche, Paris Cesvette, Basil, Booker T. & many more...
In 2017 Groove Junkies & Solara's dance hit "PERCEPTION" gained massive support from tastemakers and radio programmers on numerous continents. A diverse group of DJ's such as DJ Spen, Marques Wyatt, Tony Humphries, Low Steppa, Reelsoul, Souldynamic, Graham 'Malachi' Lord, Hec Romero, Jose Marquez, Anane Vega, Groove Assassin, Mark Di Meo, Jihad Muhammed and many others championed the song. The original mix gained Top 3 status on Traxsource's Afro House chart and the amazing 'Hypnotronic' remix by Richard Earnshaw also earned Top 3 honors on the Soulful House chart. It's success also led to various Best of 2017 nods for Afro House, Soulful House, Artist & Vocalist.
Although our mission has always been to celebrate life through music and dance, we can't ignore the harsh realities from this past year. It's been the most turbulent and divisive one in modern history. "WE RISE," Groove Junkies & Solara's highly anticipated follow up to "Perception," touches a nerve that most people from all corners of the world can relate to. It's a song of protest that depicts the level of frustration that the majority of us have been experiencing and many have already acted upon. "WE RISE" is an assertive, yet peaceful call to action, one that's filled with hope n' love that will have you singing along upon first listen and mos' definitely movin' your feet!
This time around Groove Junkies & Solara have joined forces with world renowned Artist, Producer & DJ Peter Major (aka Opolopo). Opolopo is Yoruban for "plenty," a word that best exemplifies the diversity of this production wizard's musical voyage. He came to the attention for many as the man behind the genre-crossing house remix of Gregory Porter's "1960 What?", a tune that finished in the Top Ten of many DJs in 2012. His music spans over two decades on labels such as Local Talk, JVC Japan, Z Records, Om Records, Warner Brothers, Sony/BMG, Defected. Collaborations/remixes include Grammy nominated vocalist Gregory Porter, Omar, Steve Arrington, Lisa Stansfield, Shaun Escoffery, Sandy Barber, The Sunburst Band, Mario Biondi, Azymuth, Dazz Band, Mr. V, and Leroy Burgess. He currently owns the #1 position on Traxsource for his stealth remix of Rapson's "Heat" on Defected and shows no signs of slowing down.
Fate must have been working overtime when GJs Evan Landes & Solara met Opolopo late last year for the 1st time in Los Angeles. Mutual respect and like-mindedness led their initial discussion to explore a possible collaboration and here we are. We are beyond thrilled to have him on board and part of our extended MoHo fam.
